Commissioned by the Cheltenham International Music Festival. The First performance was given on 7 July 1996.
Four Primo Levi Settings are scored for mezzo-soprano, clarinet, viola and piano, an intimate ensemble of melancholic darkness and autumnal light, appropriate for Primo Levi's text.
