Originally composed for the vihuela - a small, double-course forerunner of the modern guitar - these Pavanas, by Spanish-born, Renaissance composer Luis Milán, serve as superb studies in developing technical control.

With these pieces it is important for the guitarist to develop an awareness of all the voices that comprise the Pavanas in order to develop legato playing within the individual voices.
