Alexander Nikolayevich Scriabin's Nocturne for the Left Hand is one of the most popular pieces in the left-hand piano repertoire. Lush harmonies arise out of the patterns in the bass and middle registers as the highly romantic theme unravels. The cadenza-like middle section is followed by a giddily ecstatic return to the main theme and the pianissimo end.
